Students of Budhanilkantha Higher Secondary School participating in a rally organized to mark the World Day Against Child Labor at Budhanilkantha on Wednesday, May 12, 20113. Nepal along with the world community has been celebrating the day with the slogan “No To Child Labor in Domestic Work”. Stakeholders have expressed their discontent over the lack of proper implementation even though Nepal has many laws against child labor.
Various organisations including the Department of Labour, the Nepal Trade Union Federation, the Environment Conservation Committee, the Ward Level Child Protection Committees and the Baneshwar Child Protection Committee, among others have also organised rally to mark the day in Kathmandu and in the districts.
According to the organisers, the main purpose of holding the rally was to raise and spread public awareness that children below 14 years of age should not be made to work as labourers.
