Strategic tourism plans to achieve Vision 2020 target

KATHMANDU, Nepal- In its bid to achieve the target as aimed by “Vision 2020”, an ambitious government plan to promote the tourism sector of the country, the government has planned to bring the National Tourism Development Strategic Plan, soon.

Works to formulate the plans is in full-fledge in order to bring the strategic improvements in the tourism sector by the year 2020, officials said.

According to Prakash Raghubansi, tourism infrastructure development chief, the new strategic plan is to assist and achieve the target as envisioned by the government. “We have policy, and to implement the same strategic plan is must,” he said.

The plan will help to achieve the tourism development target as envisioned by Vision 2020, Raghubansi said.

The government has the target to bring at least 2 million foreign tourists to Nepal by 2020. In line with the vision 2020, the government has been working on Lumbini Development Project, Bhairahawa Airport and an international airport at Pokhara, he said.
