(English) Govt establishes Science Lab

KATHMANDU, Nepal–In its bid to increase the interest of Nepali students in scientific knowledge and innovative technologies, the government has established science lab along with an observatory in Tribhuvan University (TU) premise, Kirtipur.

The office would come into operation from September 17, Wednesday, on the occasion of the National Science Day. September 17 was fixed as the Science Day three years ago to commemorate the annual anniversary of ASCOL Campus, the first science campus in the country.

The Ministry of Science and Technology and Environment (MoSTE) is also organizing a two-day science and technology exhibition program at the same building to let people know about the government´s plan to develop TU as a Science City, according to reports.

Overall 36 institutes and colleges would be exhibiting their works at the event that is scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, Sharma added.
