KATHMANDU, Nepal– Prof Dr Jeevraj Pokharel has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Nepal Academy of Science and Technology. Prime Minister and Chancellor of NAST Sushil Koirala appointed Prof Dr. Pokharel for the position which was vacant after the tenure of Prof. Surendra Raj Kafle’s tenure as chancellor finished a month ago.
The appointment was made on the basis of the recommendation made by a committee formed under the leadership of the Minister for Science, Technology and Environment.
The committee comprised National Planning Commission vice-chair Dr Govinda Pokharel and Environment Secretary Dr Krishna Chandra Poudel, informed PM’s press coordinator Prakash Adhikari.
The Environment Minister is the ex-officio co-chancellor of the Academy. Prime Minister Koirala himself has assumed the portfolio of the Environment Ministry.
Pokharel will assume his post for a four-year term.
