KATHMANDU, Nepal–The tourism ministry is planning to forward its proposal to the Cabinet seeking a five-year extension of the group permit issued to the Mt. Everest expedition teams for 2014 spring season.
Almost all expedition teams have already applied to the tourism industry division, seeking extension till 2015 and 2016, according to a report published on thehimalayantimes daily.
In the meantime the Finance Ministry is also reviewing a request from Tourism Ministry to provide additional Rs 5 lakh to the families of April 18 avalanche victims as relief.
