KATHMANDU, Nepal–Thirty-five Nepalis, who were languishing in different jails in Malaysia on various charges, have been freed and sent back to the country.

According to the Nepali Mission in Kuala Lumpur, those Nepalis who had served their time in prison had been stuck in Malaysian ‘returnee camp’ due to inaccessibility of tickets to Nepal.

Issuing a press statement on Saturday, the Embassy informed that the Nepalis at the Melaka-based ‘returnee camp’ were rescued after receiving Rs. 2 million from the Foreign Employment Promotion Board.

“Remaining 35 Nepalis would be rescued and returned to Nepal from Lenging Camp on June 29,” the statement further read.

The Nepali mission in Malaysia also offered its gratitude to all the government and non-governmental agencies for their support in releasing Nepali migrant workers.
