Search attempts for missing mountaineers continue

KATHMANDU, Nepal– A rescue team comprising of Sherpa for searching the missing mountaineers in Mount Kangchanjunga ended Saturday without any progress. A sophisticated camera-fitted chopper flew above the avalanche hit zone all throughout Saturday, but to no avail. In the meantime, two mountaineers, one of whom survived the Wednesday’s avalanche at Mount Kangchanjunga have returned after they failed to locate the bodies of three team members who were swept away by avalanche. Three mountaineers including an Indian female climber are missing after an avalanche swept them away,at an elevation of 7, 500 meters while they were heading towards the peak, Wednesday. Temba Sherpa, 24, and Dawa Wangju Sherpa, 28, of Taamku VDC-5, Taplejung and Chanda Gayen, 35, of West Bengal, India are missing in avalanche.
