KATHMANDU, Nepal–Three people were nabbed for their alleged involvement in robbing foreign tourists in the Sundarijal-Chisapani trekking route in Kathmandu district.

The arrested include Bijaya Tamang, 23, Binduram Tamang, 22 and Anil Tamang, 21 of Nuwakot district, according to police. Police was able to take control them after two months following a case lodged by two US-based tourists who were allegedly robbed while trekking along the route.

Us citizen duo Carolyn Dowty, 62, bearing passport no 231119699 and Linda Richter, 60, having passport no 05887789 were allegedly looted in the area two months ago.

Among the three, Binduram, would keep eye on foreigners trekking solo and subsequently hold up them, it is learnt. The arrested have been imprisoned to police custody. The arrestees could face up to nine years in jail term and fines if they found guilty.
