KATHMANDU, Nepal–Top tourism officials in Nepal have reached to Mount Everest’s Base camp to negotiate with Sherpas who want to quit this spring climbing following 18 April avalanche that killed 16 mountain guides. According to an official at the Ministry, Tourism Minister Bhim Acharya, accompanied by other top level officials at the Ministry has left for Base in a bid to pursue Sherpas not to quit their ascent bid. With the entire climbing season thrown into doubt, the government is learnt to have adopting new strategy to avert full scale protest on the roof of the world. Analysts speculate that the discussion between the government and Sherpa is likely to be tricky game as the latter lack single leader to raise their demands.
