KATHMANDU, Nepal–At a time private schools were planning to hike the school fees across the country, the Supreme Court (SC) issued an interim order asking the former not implement their recent decision to hike the tuition fees by 18 percent.

A single bench of Justice Sushila Karki announced the ruling against Private and Boarding Schools Organisation-Nepal (PABSON’s) recent decision to hike the tuition fees.

Arguing that the PABSON’s decision to hike tuition fees was unlawful, advocate Shree Krishna Subedi had lodged writ petition on Sunday. The recently concluded 12th general convention of PABSON , an umbrella organisation of private schools in the country, had announced to raise the tuition fees by 18 percent from the new academic session.
