High impact tourism training fruitful for mountain leaders

KATHMANDU, Nepal– European Commission (EC)  in partnership with the Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) and Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) has organized a High Impact Tourism Training (HITT) program for Mountain Leaders.

On the occasion, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Ram Kumar Shrestha expressed confidence that the training would be fruitful in heightening safety in Nepali mountain tourism.

TAAN President Ramesh Dhamala said it was great opportunity for adventure tourism operators to focus on quality service by providing required training for trekking guides, crew and support staff.

Hailing the training methodology, Dhamala assured that TAAN would continue to train trekkers by adopting the new method.

Dhamala also distributed logbooks and training manuals to representatives of organizations and companies that conducted trainings for trekking workers. A representative of European Commission (EC) in Nepal was also present on the occasion.

Altogether 17 trainers provided training to a total of 394 trekking workers.
