KATHMANDU, Nepal– The government has recommended to the concerned bodies to relax the ban on Himalayan region imposed in the past citing security issue and other reasons.

An official at the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation informed that some prohibited zones have been recommended to the Ministry of Home Affairs for opening up for trekking and climbing from Kanchenjunga to Humla.

The government had banned some of the noted trekking sites like:Upper and Lower Dolpa, Manaslu of Gorkha and Chum valley

The Ministry compelled to open those prohibited zone after the Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) demanded to do so for a long time.

TAAN officials had also been asking to open the areas linked with Tibet autonomous region of China. They had complained that prohibition to small-range peaks and trekking areas adjoining the northern neighbor  is not logical as China itself has opened up its areas.
