KATHMANDU, Nepal– In a bid to raise welfare for the children of Solu Child Welfare Orphanage (CWO), in Solukhumbu district, an expedition team led by Kame Magar is planning to scale 8,848 meters Mt. Everest, the world’s highest peak in March 2014.
‘The expedition to Mt. Everest is to be undertaken to provide assistance for the welfare of the children,’ team leader Magar was quoted by National News Agency RSS as saying. The team has also appealed to all stakeholders and organizations concerned to extend their helping hand for the noble cause.
The orphanage is so far providing shelter to 18 children, who have been orphaned due to various reasons.
On the occasion, Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Ram Kumar Shrestha vowed to provide required support to the team on the behalf of the Ministry.
Requesting the concerned agencies to waive royalty for the expedition, newly elected Constituent Assembly (CA) member representing from Nepali Congress, Bal Bahadur KC is learnt to have donated o.1 million for the team for its successful expedition.
Likewise senior journalist Purushottam Dahal announced to offer of Rs. 2,000 per month for the orphanage during his life time.
The team is also planning to go on trekking in Solukhumbu, Dolakha, Ramechhap, Kavrepalanchowk among other mountainous districts.
