KATHMANDU, Nepal– In its endeavor to facilitate the tourists vising 8,167 meter Mt. Dhaulagiri, the 7th highest peak in the world, the regional tourism office in Pokhara is preparing to open the track of a new trekking route in Baglung district of Western Nepal.
The six-kilometer trekking route has been under construction since 2012 and is expected to be accomplished soon. ‘The trekking route will be opened as soon as the construction work is completed. The new path will take the trekkers en-route to Mt. Dhaulagiri’, an official at the office told.
The official further informed citing Galkot-Ghumte Tourism Development Centre that the new budget will be spend to give final shape to the trekking route which is believed to be tourist-friendly as well with steps for 350 meters from Teuba to upper Deurali.
In the meantime, a survey has conducted to construct another trekking route up to Kotmaidan of Hatiya-5. The area is home to the temple of God Khadak and the historical place called Galkot.
Kotmaidan is also a famous religious place where thousands of domestic and international tourists visit annually.
A total of Rs. 1.5 million will be spent to open the track, it is learnt.
Also know for the highest mountain located entirely within Nepal, a team of Swiss and Austrian expedition comprising Kurt Diemberger, Peter Diener, Ernst Forrer, Albin Schelbert, Nyima Dorji and Nawang Dorji scaled the Mt. Dhaulagiri for the first time in May 13,1960.
