Flight resumes after two and half decades

KATHMANDU, Nepal– In its bid to benefit mountaineers of Mt. Kanchanjunga and pilgrims to Pathibhara, Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) resumed Kathmandu-Taplejung flight after 25 years.

The RA 129 plane landed on the Suketar Airport with nine passengers Thursday morning after two decades. The plane returned to Kathmandu with 17 passengers, according to the airport’s Station Manager Hemant Uprety.

The flight operation is expected to welfare domestic and international tourists visiting the region.  It takes around 55 minutes to reach Suketar from Kathmandu.

Hence onward, the NAC will operate its flight to Panchthar every Thursday. The NAC which is the sole air-operator to fly to Suketar charges a fare of Rs 3,360 for the flight.

Established in 1970, the Suketar Airport was renovated last year.
