KATHMANDU, Nepal–Normal life in and around Solukhumbu district has been adversely affected due to excessive chilling triggered by heavy snowfall since Wednesday morning. The snow has blanketed the district headquarter Sallari and other regions especially in upper belt of the district, according to an official who returned back to Kathmandu from the district.
A thick fog has reportedly covered Khumjung, Chaurikharka, Beni, Goli, Jubhing among other several VDCs.

Namche Bazaar, equally known for the base point of the Mount Everest, the world’s highest peak in the world also witnessed excessive snowfall. Some foreign tourists were reportedly appearing busy in playing with the snow and taking short snaps in the afternoon.
According to him with sudden sink in temperature locals are seen around the fireside to get heat.
The schools at the upper parts of the district have begun shut down as the most of the class could not run due to excessive cold. However, no flight from and towards to Lukla and Kathmandu has not been affected so far according to Civil Aviation Authority in Kathmandu.
Locals are said to be worried after the unexpected change in weather pattern since a couple of days though many of them are accustomed to high altitude climate. People living in the peaks have already begun migrating with their flock of cattles to lower region and adjoining other district seeking comparatively warm environment since the mid of November to ward off the chilling. While some elder seemed reluctant to descend the peak as they should shoulder up domestic work and feed cattle, it is learnt.
The Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) in Kathmandu which had already warned of colder days ahead recorded the temperature of the district headquarter Salari at minus 2 degree Celsius on Thursday morning.
