KATHMANDU, Nepal – Buddha Air, the domestic airline company in the country has urged the European Commission to remove it from the list of aviation ban. Stating that it fulfilled all the security measures in line with the established standards, the airline has asked the EC to delist it.
The EC last week had placed the domestic air line operators in the country in its aviation security list barring them from operating any flights in the European zone. It had also asked its citizens not to board Nepali domestic airlines even for domestic movement here.
Buddha Air has urged the EC to remove it from the list as the airline is associated with an international air transport association. As per the provision, even though the airline companies are in blacklist for the European Union nations, it can ask for its delisting if the airline is a member of any international aviation related organization.
The airline company also said not to categorize all in one. “We are more concerned to the security of our passengers,” Managing Director of Buddha Air Birendra Bahadur Basnet said, adding that the company has mailed the EC with its regular “Safety Assessment” details.
The company has entered into the Nepali aviation sector in October 1997. It operates two international and 13 domestic destinations with its modern aircrafts, the airlines said.
