Australian tycoon Sesh Shale elected NRNA head

KATHMANDU, Nepal- Australian tycoon Sesh Ghale has been elected as chairperson of the Non Resident Nepalis Association (NRNA) from Sixth Global General Convention of the NRNA on Monday. Ghale got 510 votes out of total 802 votes casted while, his competitor Tenzi Sherpa got 280 votes.

NRNA is the global organization of non-resident Nepalis living in different countries. Ghale is one of the campaigners of the NRNA since the establishment time.

Earlier, Ram Pratap Thapa, Rameshwor Shah and Hitman Gurung had also announced their candidacies for the post of the chairman but they withdrew their candidacy at 11th hour.

Giving brief remarks after being elected the Chairman, Ghale said that a new avenue has opened up to set agenda for socio-economic development of the motherland.

Among other elected are TB Karki and Bhawan Bhatta (vice-chairman), Kumar Panta (general secretary), Ranju Thapa (secretary) and Badri KC (treasurer).

Some 1300 NRNs residing in 50 countries across the world are taking part in the conference. Established a decade ago, the NRNA has its chapters in 65 different countries so far.

The conference is schedule to hold discussion for collective investment, foreign employment, continuity of citizenship of the NRNs, and partnership with the private sector in the country, among other issues.

President Dr Ram Baran Yadav is scheduled to officially inaugurate the conference today.
