14th International Youth Day being observed in Nepal

IYD.Logo_-600x323KATHMANDU, Nepal-The 14th International Youth Day is being observed in Nepal with the slogan ‘Youth Migration: Safe and Well-Managed’ on Monday by organizing various programs to recognize the efforts of youth in building better societies. The United Nations ‘ International Youth Day is celebrated on August 12 each year.

On the occasion, the Ministry of Education and Sports is organizing various youth creative activities. Various programmes-exhibitions on climate change and energy rallies, poetry contest, and sports are being organized in Capital Kathmandu.

The Ministry has directed all the District Education Office (DEO) across the country to mark the Day by orgazing youth oriented programmes. During a programme held in Capital Kathmandu Ministry for Education and Sports Madhav Prasad Paudel aid the government has recognized the role of youth in the country’s development.

A 13-member main organizing committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of joint secretary at the Ministry of Youth and Sports Santiram Sharma to mark the day with great fanfare.

Of the total population of Nepal, 40 percent are youth and nearly 3 million youth are toiling in foreign land, besides neighboring India.
