36,505 tourists pay visit to Sagarmatha National Park during Fiscal Year 2012/13

KATHMANDU, Nepal-A total of thirty-six thousand five hundred and fifty tourists paid visit to the Sagarmatha National Park (SNP)in Solukhumbu district in the Fiscal Year 2012/13. The number was three thousand more than previous year.

According to the SNP, the number of tourists visiting the National Park in Fiscal Year 2010/20121 was 33 thousand 390 and 36 thousand 315 in the Fiscal Year 2011/2012.

Park office at Namche informed that those  tourists visited the park from 16 July 2012 to 15 July 2013.

The Park has garnered more than to Rs. 91 million revenues in the Ficsal Year 2012/2013. Of this amount, Rs. 86 million was collected from tourist entry fee and the rest of the amount was collected under various topics including issuing permission to cut down trees for constructing the houses and lodges.

The park charges three thousand rupees per person as entry fee for foreign tourists and fifteen hundred rupees per foreigners visiting from the SAARC countries.
