Fire engulfs Yeti Mountain Resort

KATHMANDU, Nepal-A huge inferno has broken out at the Yeti Mountain Resort at Fakding, Chaurikharka VDC-9, in Sulukhumbu district since Tuesday morning. The resort, operated by Thamserku Trekking Office, caught fire at around 8:30, Tuesday morning.  The inferno had already engulfed the kitchen, dining room, stores, and the staff-room, it is reported.

Security personnel from the Area Police Office, Chaurikharka, Airport Security Guards and Nepal Army personnel from Sagarmatha National Park (SNP) are deployed to douse the fire, according to police.

The Trekking Office has been running seven resorts in Lukla, Namche, Thame, Fakdin, Manju, and Kongde in the district.

Meanwhile, the main cause of fire is yet to know, however, it is suspected that the fire caught the resort after the LP Gas cylinder exploded while preparing food. The rescue teams comprising of locals, security personnel and villagers are dousing the fire which is yet to control, it is reported.
