KATHMANDU, Nepal- Mountaineers from different countries have said that the Mount Everest has always been an adventurous and a perfect destination for not only Nepalis but for the whole world.
Speaking at the function organized to wrap up the Tenzing-Hillary Everest Marathon that was organized to mark the Diamond Jubilee Celebration of first ascent of Mt. Everest and felicitation of the climbers, at Namche Bazaar of Solukhumbu, the mountaineers have praised the Everest and its beauty.
In her remarks, Amelia Rose Hillary, granddaughter of Sir Edmund Hillary, said the beauty and the naturality of the Everest should be preserved for the future generations. “The importance and attraction of the Everest should be preserved for the generations to come and we all should work for that,” Amelia said.
On the occasion climbers have expressed their views to protect the peak by minimizing effects of climate change and suggests promoting the mountaineering tourism by optimum use of the world’s highest peak.
Organized for the last one decade, the marathon has its own identity in the world as the world’s highest altitude marathon.
In the open marathon that started from the Everest Base Camp, and ended Namche Bazaar and organized on May 29 this year athlete from 17 countries had taken part. (news report based on information by Phurba Sherpa of Namchee)
