Qatar royal conquers Everest

 

KATHMANDU, Nepal-A member of Qatar ruling family Sheikh Mohammad Bin Abdullah Al-Thani, scaled the world’s highest peak Mt. Everest on Wednesday morning. All-Thani stepped on the peak around 10 am this morning, informed Gyanendra Shrestha, official at the Ministry of Culture Tourism and Civil Aviation.

All-Thani is a part of a four member expedition team under ‘Arabs with Altitude’ that includes Miss Raha Moharrak of Saudi Arab, Raed Zidan, a Palestinian businessman and an Iranian national Masoud Mohammad.

Among them one of the member Moharrak has already atop the peak on Saturday, creating  a history to become first Saudi woman to scale the peak.

Thani is a brand ambassador of the Reach Out to Asia (ROTA), a Doha based society which is raising funds for the various education project in Nepal.

As an ardent mountaineer, All-Thani had visited Nepal in 2007 and 2009.

Meanwhile, veteran octogenarian climber and Guinness Record holder Min Bahadur Sherchan has still been awaiting climbing permission from the government at the Everest Base Camp. The Cabinet to be held tomorrow will decide 81 years old Sherchan’s fate, it is learnt.
