KATHMANDU, Nepal–In the latest series of tragedies, two mountaineers and their guide have fallen to their death in the Mont Blanc range , the tallest mountain in Europe.

It is presumed that they slid down an edge that mountaineers must take to return to nearby hut. “The fall of 800 metres gave them no chance,” police source was quoted by Agency France Press as saying adding that investigations are being accelerated behind the cause of the accident.

The deaths came just days following the tragic death of six mountaineers who fell 250 metres down on another peak, the Aiguille d’Argentiere.

According to the reports, rescue teams deployed with choppers have reportedly found the bodies of three victims, Sunday night near the Aiguille du Midi peak, located at an elevation of 3,842 metres.

Treasure trove found after century

In another interesting report on the same mountain, a French treasure hunter has found a treasure trove comprising of valuable bracelets and necklaces, on the ice of Mont Blanc belonging to passengers from an Air India plane that crashed a century ago.

The find comes a year after a young mountaineer stumbled across a metal box containing 100 diamonds, emeralds, rubies and sapphires valued at €240,000 (£193,000).

Daniel Roche, who has been scouring the peak seeking for lost objects for years, encountered with a fresh set of 50 pieces of jewellery, believed to be pushed to the surface by the Bossons glacier, according to a report published in telegraph.
