KATHMANDU, Nepal– The Himalayas in Nepal have long since held a mysterious attraction to foreign travelers and trekkers alike. Dozens of foreign travelers pay visit to country aiming to experience the natural beauty and carry out their courageous activities like mountaineering, mountain biking, skidding, and paragliding among other adventurous actions.
Among them is a renowned French cyclist and filmmaker Jean-Michel Jorda who has completed cycling trip of Great Himalaya Trail (GHT), of late.
Jean who finished 2,500 kilometers trekking in 2014 after cycling the Kanchanjunga and Makalu-Barun sections of the trail said Nepal was a unique destination for mountain bikers.
Earlier a team led by Pushkar Shah travelled on mountain bikes to make the team first ever in the country to complete GHT. The team accomplished the trail spanning around 1,700 km last year. But Jorda´s trip is unique one in a sense that he cycled the entire GHT all alone.
Jean who experienced that the journey on bicycle has offered him pretty opportunity to meet people and experience their cultures from unique perspective, accomplished his cycling from near the base-camp of Mt Kanchanjunga to the Khumbu region in Solukhumbu that houses world’s highest peak Mount Everest.
Jean also said that he would request the native travelers to visit Nepal and enjoy Himalayas through the unique experience of riding a bicycle.
A Bicycler sometime may face tough time during his/her long adventurous journey since it might fail to ply on the roads and should be carried on shoulder for hours until it is repaired. On the similar context, Jean who has also made numerous documentaries about Nepal shared his experience in this way, “Sometime the bicycle carries me and while on many occasion I should have to carry the 10 kg bicycle on my shoulder.”
