(English) 24 expedition teams get Everest permission so far

KATHMANDU, Nepal–Altogether 24 expedition teams have been issued permits so far to set for expeditions on Mt Everest, the highest peak in the world for the upcoming mountaineering season, the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation informed. Last year, 32 different teams were issued permits to conquer the world’s highest peak.

According to the Department of Mountaineering under Tourism Ministry, authorities have granted permission so far to 32 expedition teams to climb other peaks in Nepal this year.

Similarly, two permits each have been issued so far for the expeditions on Mt. Makalu, Mt. Kanchanjunga and Mt Dhaulagiri.

Last year, a total of 102 expeditions were done on different Nepali mountains.

The expedition season begins around mid-April and May.

Thousands of people have atop the Everest after Sir Edmund Hilary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa conquered the peak on May 29.
