KATHMANDU, Nepal–Revolving around the issue of climate change and its impacts on bio-diversity, Ministry of Forestry and Soil Conservation (MoFSC) is planning to introduce a 15-year “Bio-diversity strategy and implementation plan.”

The draft of the plan which was already prepared by Kathmandu Forestry College is being reviewed by experts, officials at the Ministry informed.

The draft has identified 6 different areas that include: wetland area, unprotected forest area, wildlife protected area, grazing lands, mountain area and agricultural areas.

Earlier in 2002, the government had developed and implemented similar plan. Since the climate change was not such a burning issue then, the programme was mainly focused on bio-diversity issues.
