KATHMANDU, Nepal- Local communities and the political leaders are considering over construction of an alternative airport at Gudel VDC in Solukhumbu district.
The airport will be named as Mahakulung.
Internal and foreign tourists going for Mera-peak mountaineering and trekking for Arun Valley will be benefited after the airport gets its shape.
The VDC across the Koshi River is considered as a remote Karnali of the district.
With the construction of the airport, locals in the district and the locals of northern belt of neighboring districts Bhojpur and Khotang will be benefited.
Recently, an engineering team including the newly elected member of the Constituent Assembly Bal Bahadur KC of the district has reached the VDC for survey of the airport.
With the construction of this airport, there will be six airports in the district but only three are operational, it is learnt.
