Govt introduces surprise package to science student

KATHMANDU, Nepal–With an attempt to provide easiest access of science education for the students who were deprived to study at their own home town despite their keen desires and promote scientific and technical study in the country, the government has introduced a new package for the science student studying in the higher secondary level.

As per the package, the government would provide free education as well as monthly allowance of Rs 3,000  to the students who were compelled to go far beyond their district seeking to study science and technology.

But such facilities would be offered mainly to students residing in 9 mountainous districts in the first phase that will begin from the mid of January in 2014.

Issuing a public directive on Sunday, the Department of Education (DoE) has directed the District Education Offices of Khotang, Bhojpur, Manang, Mustang, Jajarkot, Doti,  Tehrathum, Makawanpur and Dolpa districts lacking the science subjects in higher secondary subjects to offer the new facility for the students.

Likewise, there is a provision of tuition fee waiver for the students desired to study science in Grade 11 in the public schools in other districts, according to package.
