Gateway to Everest witnesses over 8 thousands tourists during a month

KATHMANDU, Nepal-As many as 8,282 foreign tourists paid visit to the Sagarmatha National Park  (SNP) in Khumbu region, also known for the gateway to Mt. Everest , the highest peak in the world.

A total of 7,799 tourists had visited the park in the same period last year.

Out of 8,282 visitors, 5 thousand 158 are women while 3,100 men who visited the region from   Mid-October to Mid-November, according to Park office.

Most of the visitors are from the United Kingdom which recorded 1,120 followed by German (889) and US (802).

Likewise, 122 foreign tourists from SAARC countries visited the national park during that period.

Each foreign tourist has to pay Rs. 3,000 entrance fee to visit the site.  The park said it has garnered Rs. 21,734,800 as revenue under various fees from the visitors in this month.

Famous for its spectacular mountain peaks and the loyalty and friendliness of Sherpas, the Khumbu  region is one of the most popular destinations for tourists in Nepal.
