KATHMANDU, Nepal-A South Korean national was killed in a paragliding accident at Sarangkot, near Pokhara, of Kaski on Saturday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as 43 years old Young Min Han. He was on a solo flight. The parasail fell from the sky at around 3:30 pm in Sarangkot, according to police.
It is yet to conform whether the Korean pilot had taken permission from the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) for the flight.
Aviation activity like paragliding needed to get Air Sports Operator Certificate (ASOC) from Flight Safety Standard Department under the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal.
Just two week ago the government of Nepal made mandatory for operators of adventurous and recreational tourism activities to get license from the Tourism Industry Division under the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation before the commencement of business.
As per the new provision, companies applying for the license need to submit feasibility study report, details and map of the place where the business is to be operated including landownership or agreement certificate, citizenship, reports of Initial Environmental Examination (IEE) among others.
Earlier, a Malaysian national had fell to death in paragliding accident in Pokhara in 2010.
Mkwete Pengkwan, 71, had died when the paraglider crashed at Pandhelikhor, Sarangkot.
