Fear of violence in CA polls mars adventure business

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAKATHMANDU, Nepal-Fear of violence due to upcoming polls scheduled to be held in November 19 and increase in pollution in the river, rafting business in the country has dropped by 15 percent compared to same period last year, according to Nepal Association of Rafting Agents (NARA).

Likewise, decrease in the number of adventure tourists and  unhealthy competition in terms of tariff has also attributed to the decline in the business in the latest days, leaving the entrepreneurs in trouble situation.

According to Nani Kaji Thapa, president of NARA, most of the rafting operators have reported 10 to 20 percent decline in the business. He said that though they  have hiked the tariff by five percent for rafting on the Trishuli and the Bhotekoshi to US$30 and $50 each day, respectively other than from China and SAARC countries, the revenue from the business has fell down.
