KATHMANDU, Nepal-At least ten passengers including the driver were killed and a dozen other injured when a passenger jeep skidded off the road and fell some 500 metres down at Lekhphant of Parbat district, 300 kilometer west of the Capital Kathmandu on Tuesday morning, a television report said.
Eight persons were killed on the spot while two died while rushing them to the hospital as the ill-fated jeep veered of the road. The jeep with registered no Ga 1 Ja 5120 was heading to Beni from Nagi of mountainous district Myagdi.
In the meantime, police and locals have stepped up the rescue operation.
Injured are receiving treatment at district hospital and Gandaki Zonal Hospital Pokhara. Excessive speed might led the accident, polices’ preliminary investigations revealed.
