KATHMANDU, Nepal-With the theme ‘NRNs and Nepal: Partners in Prosperity’, the sixth Global Convention of the Non Resident Nepalis Association (NRNA) has kicked off here in Kathmandu from Saturday.
Founding Chairman of the NRNA Upendra Mahato, former Chairman Devman Hirachan and Chairman Jeeva Lamichhane jointly inaugurated the convention amidst a function.
Some 1300 NRNs residing in 50 countries across the world are taking part in the conference. Established a decade ago, the NRNA has its chapters in 65 different countries so far.
The conference is schedule to hold discussion for collective investment, foreign employment, continuity of citizenship of the NRNs, and partnership with the private sector in the country, among other issues.
Senior leaders of major political parties are taking part in the conference and the NRNs would hold discussions with them on the issues for economic prosperity of the country.
The general convention which has already passed the reports submitted by the general secretary and the treasurer will elect a new executive committee of the Association.
