Sherpa dies after skidding off Base Camp

KATHMANDU, Nepal-A Sherpa helper of a climbing team died at base camp during the course of descending the Everest, Tuesday morning. Lapsang Sherpa in Juping of Solukhumbu district, representing the seven summit expedition team as a helper died after skidding off the base camp.

Sherpa, who was descending from camp 4 to camp 3, carrying the goods of the expedition, fell from the height of 7 thousand and six hundred meter at base camp, according to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation.

The body of the Sherpa has been brought back to Kathmandu on Wednesday, informed tourism expert MadhuJung Pandey to Nepal Mountain Focus quoting the statement of the joint secretary and the spokesperson of the Ministry Mohan Krishna Sapkota. The ministry has also expressed deep sorry over the demise of Sherpa.

According to Mingma Sherpa, managing director of Seven Summit Expedition company, the body of Sherpa has been kept at Boudha Stupa in Kathmandu to offer pray as per the Sherpa ritual. According to him, the Sherpa’s last ritual is going to be organized in Kathmandu on Friday. All together four persons have been died during the course of climbing the Everest.
