KATHMANDU, Nepal– The country´s first aircraft museum has been set up at Hasanpur, Dhangadhi, thanks to the Bed Upreti, a Dhangadhi local who is pursuing his carrier as a pilot trainer for an airline company in Indonesia.
The museum, housed inside an old aircraft of non-operational Cosmic Air, has on display 200 down-sized models of aircraft ranging from the first plane flown by the Wright Brothers to other models.
Captain Upreti claimed that Nepal´s first aircraft museum is a first of its kind in the entire world. The fact that the museum is housed in an airplane sets it apart from others.
According to a report published in Nagarik daily, the museum can be developed into a research center for those interested in learning about different types of aircraft built in the world since 1903.
Upreti hopes that the museum also inspires students to take an interest in aviation besides disseminating information about various types of planes. Upreti has also set up a lab for engineering graduate at the museum.
A part from the aircraft material, five dozen pictures tourism sites from various parts of the country and 30 from foreign countries are also showcased at the museum.
Anyone who enters the museum can observe and study different types of aircraft”, he was quoted as saying by the daily.
according to museum founder Upreti, an entrance fee of Rs 50 for students and Rs 100 for other visitors has been set for the museum that officially opened for visitors from Thursday.
The museum was completed in seven months at the expense of Rs 15 million. The museum first of its kind in the country is believed to lure more national and international tourists in the area.
