LITANG, Cina — Karl Unterkircher e compagni hanno lasciato oggi il villaggio di Litang alla volta del Mount Genyen. L’arrivo al campo base è previsto entro sera, dopo 8 ore di cammino ininterrotto attraverso le affascinanti vette senza nome del massiccio cinese, che secondo le leggende locali sarebbero manifestazioni delle divinità buddiste.
Il punto di partenza ufficiale della spedizione è il villaggio di Zangla, nel Sichuan cinese, dove è ritratto Unterkircher nella foto.
L’alpinista altoatesino e i compagni di cordata Walter Nones, Gerold Moroder e Simon Kehrer, tenteranno di scalare l’imponente parete Nord del monte sacro Genyen, 6.240 metri, ancora inviolata.
Nelle loro intenzioni anche l’esplorazone delle altre montagne del gruppo, che guardato dal satellite sembra avere la forma di un cervello.

LITANG, China — Karl Unterkircher’s expedition left today from Litang towards Mount Genyen. Their arrival at the base camp is foreseen in the evening, after 8 hours of uninterrupted walk through the fascinating no-name summits of the Chinese massif. According to the local belief, these summits are the manifestation of buddhist gods.
The official start point of the expedition is the village of Zangla, in the Chinese Sichuan, where Unterkircher is portrayed in the attached photo.
The well-known mountain climber and his companions Walter Nones, Gerold Moroder and Simon Kehrer, will try to climb the North face of the sacred mount Genyen, 6,240 meters. The wall has never been climbed before.
They are going to explore also the other mountains of the group that seen from the satellite seems to have the shape of a brain.
