(English) Tourists hub Hanumandhoka goes digital

KATHMANDU, Nepal– In its bid to control domestic and foreign tourists’ entry into the UNESCO World Heritage site Hanumandhoka Durbar Square Conservation Programme (HDSCP), a tourist hub place in the Capital Kathmandu is working out to set up electronic equipment.

According to officials at HDSCP, the existing iron bar chains will be replaced with a remote-controlled electronic barrier at all three gateways of the heritage premises that will help curb unnecessary activities of the vehicles.

“The remote-controlled barrier is believed to ensure pedestrians walk through right outlets to avoid overcrowding at the gates. The equipment will help authorities’ keep an eye on the tourists entering the heritage sites.
