No foreign trip until new constitution: CA chair

KATHMANDU, Nepal–chairman of Constituent Assembly (CA) Subash Chandra Nembang has asked lawmakers to annul foreign trips until the new constitution is promulgated. Citing that foreign trips of the leaders of the political parties could affect ongoing constitution drafting body, Nembang made such announcement. “I kindly request the political parties to suspend the lawmakers’ trip to foreign countries,” Nembang said while addressing the CA. Nembang has also announced that he would meet heads of diplomatic missions to request them not to invite lawmakers to visit their countries. He also asked the lawmakers to cancel their visit to their concerned constituencies. At present, as many as four dozen lawmakers are in foreign trip. In the meanwhile, former prime minister and chairman of the Political Dialogue and Consensus Committee of the CA, Baburam Bhattarai announced that he would not made foreign trip until the promulgation of the new constitution.
