Nepal marked 21st International Disability Day

KATHMANDU, Nepal- Nepal marked the 21st International Disability Day by organizing various programme across the country, Tuesday. On the occasion, a morning rally was taken out in the streets of the capital Kathmandu demanding rights for the people with disability.

The slogan of International Disability Day for this year is ‘Removing barriers to create an inclusive and accessible society for al’.

According to the data provided by Social Welfare Council under the Minister of Women, Children and Social Welfare, there are approximately 3 million people with disability in Nepal.

People with disability have grievance that they have not been able to lead a respectable life in the society as people in the society behave differently.

Activists working for the uplift of such people said handicap could also lead an independent life if they are provided with employment opportunities.
