KATHMANDU, Nepal-Today is the final day of a 15-day Dashain  festival with people marking the Kojagrat Purnima Friday.

The longest festival that began on Ghatasthapana, concludes on the day of Purnima with the worship of Maha Laxmi in the evening on the belief that the night-long worship of the Goddess brings more wealth to the devotees.

On this day barley sprouts, grown during the festival will be removed from the Dashain ghar marking the end of the festival.

According to Hindu mythology, Mahalaxmi roams around the earth on the night of Kojagrat -meaning-“who is awake”- to see people who stay awake to worship her.
