Govt committed to promote mountaineering in far-western region

KATHMANDU, Nepal-Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA) Ram Kumar Shrestha said the government was committed towards the promotion of mountaineering sector in the mid-western and far-western regions.

During an interaction programme on the development of touristic heritages in the far-western and mid-western regions, Minister Shrestha stressed the need for the publicity of small range snowcapped peaks for the overall development of mountaineering and tourism in those regions.

On the occasion, he informed that the government was planning to construct an airport in Dhaulagiri zone.

Newly elected chairman of the Trekking Agency Association of Nepal (TAAN) Ramesh Dhamala, and TAAN former Chairman Chhiring Sherpa emphasized that the infrastructure development of far-west and mid-western regions should be the common priority of the public and private sector.
