Tycoon Vaidya to invest in tourism sector

KATHMANDU, Nepal- Vaidyas Organization, the authorized distributor of Toyota Motors in Nepal has declared that the organization will invest in the tourism sector. And opening of three to five mega hotels is at the top of Vaidyas’ investment list.

Chairman of the organization, Suraj Vaidya, who is also the incumbent president of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), an umbrella organization of the Nepalese private sector, informed that his organization has mulling over some projects targeting the tourism sector.

“Due to hectic schedule of FNCCI chairmanship I was not able to work on the projects,” Vaidya, whose term as the FNCCI chairman will end in April, said while talking to Onlinekhabar, “I’ll work with full focus on the projects with the beginning of Nepali New Year”.

Vaidya Organization has planned to invest in the five star hotels at different tourist locations in the country.

According to Vaidya, project to establish a five star deluxe hotel at the Toyata Complex in Kathmandu is in last stage. “All the formalities including license have been finalized,’ he said adding, one each resort-like hotel will also be built in Lumbini and Begnas”. According to him, he has also planned an eco-hotel at Rara, the largest lake in the country.

All the projects will have sole investment of the organization.

As the country has high tourism potential the organization has decided to invest in the sector, he opined. “But still the government policies are not clear towards the private sector,” Vaidya said, adding that the investors would come to invest only after the government frame effective policies and clear legal hurdles.
