Nepal to mark National Science Day on Sept 17

KATHMANDU, Nepal-With an aim to encourage Nepali scientists and their research activities, Nepal is to mark the first National Science Day with the slogan ‘Science and Technology, National Prosperity.’

During a programme in Kathmandu on Sunday, Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) informed that the Ministry of Science Technology and Environment in coordination with the NAST is going to mark the Day on September 17.

The Day, which is going to be observing after 20 years is expected to be important and beneficial, according to the organizers.

Earlier in 1993, NAST had organized Science Week but it could not get continuity due to the lack of appropriate support from the government.

Chancellor of the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST), Prof. Dr. Surendra Raj Kafle, said the NAST has been carrying out various research activities and bringing the new technology to the public.

He also informed that the NAST services will be branched out with the establishment of two offices in Pokhara and Biratnagar.

According to the organizer, Science Fair will be held on September 17 and 18 at Nepal Academy on the occasion.

Likewise, Nepalpedia, a book that gives details about Nepalese plant researches, is going to be published on the occasion.

The fair would feature various technological, biological, researches activities carried out by NAST.
