4 Nepalese killed in Kabul suicide attack

KATHMANDU, Nepal-Four Nepali guards were killed in a suicide bomb attack in Kabul, Afghanistan, international news agencies reported.  A suicide truck bomb and gun attack killed seven people including four Nepali, destroying the entrance to a compound used by a foreign NATO supply company in Kabul, Tuesday morning.

“Four Nepali guards, one Afghan guard and two Afghan civilians have been killed in the attack,” AFP quoted Kabul police Chief Mohammad Ayoub Salangi as saying.

A Nepali journalist stationed in Afghanistan, Subel Bhandari, tweeted that our Nepalese security guards were killed in Taliban attack .

However, the identity of four Nepalese guards killed in the attack is yet to be ascertained.

At least four other people were injured in the attack, according to the report.  Salangi informed the attack started with a suicide bomb carried in a large truck. Three insurgents fought with guards for about 30-40 minutes. All the assailants were also killed in the attack.

The US has been pushing for peace talks to start as 100,000 NATO combat troops deploying in Kabul are preparing to withdraw next year

Police said that the attack targeted a logistics transport company working with international forces and that some suicide vests were detonated at the site.
