Mt. Fuji wins World Heritage status

According to UNESCO, Mt. Fuji had succeeded to enthrall ‘artists and poet as well as became the object of pilgrimage for centuries. Located at south-west of Tokyo, the peak lies at the height of 3776 m. The Volcano, which erupted 300 years ago can easily be seen from capital Tokyo on a clear day. UNESCO has also listed Italy’s Mount Etna as a world heritage site on Friday, stating the 3,300m (10,900 ft) active volcano had “notoriety, scientific importance, and cultural and educational value of global significance”.
