Fire at a Hotel in Kathmandu

hotel-shangrila-fireKATHMANDU, Nepal- Fire fighters and police personnel trying to extinguish a fire that broke out at Hotel Shangri-La in Kathmandu, on Wednesday, June 5, 2013. Police said, the fire erupted at around 4.15 pm by an electric short circuit. DSP Chakra Bahadur Singh, spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police Range, Hanumandhoka, said the fire was taken under control by 6 pm. Around 300 firefighters backed by six fire engines were deployed. No one was injured in the incident. Police are yet to assess the losses but hotel and casino operators told them that the fire caused losses worth at least Rs 40 million. Photo: Nepal Mountain Focus
