(English) 15 stranded Aussie rescued, 50 out of contact

KATHMANDU, Nepal–At least 15 stranded Australian trekkers were rescued by Nepal Army (NA) from Thorang La Pass of Manang district, hit worst by avalanche and blizzard. They were trapped in the blizzard that hit the area last week.
Similarly, NA has deployed 10 personnel to Naar and 11 others to Phuma of Manang for the rescue operations according to District Police Office, Manag.
A total of 266 trekkers have been rescued from the Annapurna circuit in Manang district so far.

The trekkers are returning to Pokhara and Kathmandu through Lamjung as the authorities restricted trekkers from crossing Thorang Pass since Friday.

In the meantime, More than 50 foreign trekkers left for Mustang and Manang districts under the Annapurna circuit trekking route have gone out of contact for a week.
