KATHMANDU, Nepal–The population of endangered red pandas is reportedly found to have increased at Makalu Barun National Park, located in the districts of Solukhumbu and Sankhuwasabha in eastern Nepal.

The two red pandas were traced inside the park within the past week, national park officials informed adding that park, covering an area of 580 sq mile lodges  as many as 40 red pandas which are roaming inside the park.

Regarded as the 8th national park in the country, it is the world’s only protected area with an elevation of more than 26,000 ft enclosing tropical forest as well as snow-capped peaks.

Since the endangered animal is found in an altitude of 2,500 metres to 5,000 metres, the national park is appropriate for the Red Panda, locals said.
