KATHMANDU, Nepal–Claiming that the search and rescue was almost completed in the major incident sites, the government on Monday wrapped up search and rescue operations in blizzard-hit Manang and Mustang districts.

“Though the team would be ready for emergency, the rescue has been stopped for now,” today’s most of the Nepali dailies quoted Chief District Officer of Mustang Baburam Bhandari as saying.

The local authorities said that rescue was halted as they received no information of any fresh problems in the area.

Rescuers recovered the body of an Israeli tourist below Thorong La pass in Mustang on Monday. Forty-three people, including 13 foreign trekkers, were killed in the deadliest snowfall and avalanche in the country.

Meanwhile, one more foreign trekker, who gone missing in the upper Dolpa region, was rescued from Chharka in the district, Monday noon.

The American tourist, who was stuck after the heavy snowfall and fell ill due to extreme cold and altitude sickness, was rescued safely. With that, all the stranded foreign trekkers have come to contact now.
